Due to impacts from Covid-19 no new offers of enrollment for on-going care have been made since March 13, 2022. As of April 1, 2022 UBCCCS has been prioritizing access to spaces (as able and as needed) for Essential Service Workers as per the funding guidelines set out by the Ministry for Children and Family Development (MCFD). The requirement to prioritize care to Essential Service Workers will end August 31st. Effective September 1, 2022 all pre-Covid 19 registered families will be welcomed back to care. Any vacant child care spaces will be filled from our waiting list as per UBCCCS’ regular policies with the aim to reach full enrollment by the beginning of October, 2022. Offers for these vacant child care spaces will be made mid to late August 2022 with the earliest start date being October 1, 2022. Increased wait times are a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting change to our service delivery model between April 1, 2022 and August 31, 2022.

UBCCCS COVID-19 Update
UBCCCS is approved by the Ministry for Children and Family Development (MCFD) to receive CCOF Base Funding under the 2022/2022 CCOF Funding Agreement. As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, UBCCCS is eligible and has applied to receive Temporary Emergency Funding from MCFD.
To maintain eligibility for funding, and to ensure the health and safety of children, families and early childhood educators, UBCCCS’ COVID-19 operations are as follows:

- Child Care Services will resume regular services at a time that is recommended by the Province of BC, UBC and as available quality and provincially licensed early childhood educators allow.
- Families who do not expect to need child care services following the pandemic can provide notices of withdrawal effective March 31st using the notice of withdrawal form available on our website www.hlenw.emedahair.net under the forms page.
- UBCCCS is prioritizing access to spaces (as able and as needed) for essential service workers, if we can do so while continuing to follow the advice of the Provincial Health Officer related to the health and safety of staff and the children and families we serve. - Prioritized placements for children of essential service workers are based on the following priority:
- Tier 1 (highest priority): employed in Health and Health Services, Social Services, Law Enforcement, First Responders, and Emergency Response. For child care, Tier 1 also includes children referred by MCFD and Delegated Aboriginal Agency social workers.
- Tier 2 (second priority): all other occupations not included in Tier 1 that are listed in the Essential Service Workers list.
- Tier 3 (third priority): all other families not employed in an occupation listed in the Essential Service Workers list.
- UBCCCS’ inventory of available spaces will be reduced to roughly 30 & 60 spaces. This reduction in services is based upon advice of the Provincial Health Officer for providing safe child care during the COVID-19 pandemic and the availability of quality provincially licensed early childhood educators.
